Last Week: 10-5 66%
Season: 42-23 64%
Indianapolis vs Houston (-2)
The Texans are a two point favourite for one reason. Andrew Luck. The Colts have opted to sit their franchise signal caller, thrusting 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck into a starting role for the second straight week. The Colts escaped last week’s game with a last second, overtime win vs Jacksonville, and are hoping to repeat that success against another division rival.
The Texans offense is in shambles. Ryan Mallett has struggled mightily this season and was benched three quarters into last week’s game against Atlanta. Arian Foster made his return after missing the first four weeks of the season, but he is being eased in slowly, and at this point is a long shot to produce at an elite level.
This game is incredibly hard to project with Luck out of the lineup, and I expect it to be a low scoring game. My gut feeling is that the lauded Houston defense is the difference in this one, and that a couple J.J. Watt plays and/or interceptions make the difference. I hate to count out the Colts with Mallett at the helm, but its hard to project a Colts team in this bad shape winning on a short week.
